Dakota Johnson Reveals Creative Battles with 'Fifty Shades of Grey' Author

Behind-the-Scenes Turmoil in Blockbuster Franchise

With Co-Stars Jamie Dornan, Jennifer Ehle, and Eloise Mumford

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, actress Dakota Johnson has opened up about the creative battles she faced while working on the "Fifty Shades of Grey" trilogy. Johnson, who starred as Anastasia Steele in the films, revealed that she had significant disagreements with the author of the books, E.L. James, over the direction of the adaptations.

According to Johnson, James had a very specific vision for the movies and was resistant to any changes. "She wanted it to be exactly what she wrote," Johnson said. "But sometimes I would do something that wasn't in the script and she would be like, 'That's not what I wrote!'"

The creative clashes between Johnson and James led to tension on set, particularly during the filming of the first movie. "It was a lot of back and forth," Johnson said. "There were times when I just wanted to throw the book at her and say, 'Let me just do my job!'"

Despite the creative differences, Johnson ultimately went on to star in all three "Fifty Shades" films. The franchise became a global phenomenon, grossing over $1 billion worldwide. Johnson says that she is proud of the work she did on the movies, but she admits that the experience was not always easy.
